A methodological note

The list of prices of 2010 deals with economic land transactions prices. These prices, exclusive from tax, correspond to the prices of actual transactions. They are established from an exhaustive survey addressed by ANIREF to all administrative and professional sources. The reference period of the observed transactions that represents the base 100 of indexes corresponds to 2008. Read more ...

  • Crude oil: 63.8 million tons in 2007.
  • Natural gas: 152.8 billion cubic meters in 2007.
  • Electricity: 6000 megawatts ; 1200 megawatts from additional planned power plants.
  • Cement: 1.1 million tons (consumption: 13 million tons).
  • Iron: 1.5 million tons.
  • Phosphates: 1.4 million tons.
  • Foundry- iron- steel works: 700 00 tons ( capacity : 2 million tons).


Agriculture - main productions:

  • Cereals: 61.2 million quintals in 2003.
  • Dates: 420 000 tons in 2003; 516 000 tons in 2005.
  • Tomatoes: 900 000 tons (2004 estimate).
  • Oranges: 600 000 tons (2005).
  • Livestock: 28 million heads; 18 million sheep and 2 million cattle.
  • Wines: 650 000 HL.
  • Meat: red: 298 000tons, white: 260 000 tons.
  • Fisheries: 130 000 tons.
  • Milk: 2.24 billion liters in 2008. 3.2 billion liters by 2014.
  • Fresh vegetables: 56 million quintals in 2007.
  • Potatoes: 25 million quintals in 2009.

The agricultural sector represents about 10% of the Gross Domestic Product. Its contribution to the overall growth went from 0.6% in 2002 to about 3% in 2007.
